Aquidneck Land Trust

Aquidneck Land Trust was founded in 1990 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization by a dedicated group of local residents to save the natural character, environmental health, and economic value of Aquidneck Island. On December 8, 1993, ALT secured its first conservation easement via a donation of the development rights to 2.4 acres of the historic estate of John J. Slocum on Bellevue Avenue in Newport.

Today, ALT is overseen by more than 20 Trustees and guided by over 20 additional Advisory Board members, providing expertise in disciplines such as law, agriculture, finance, real estate, environmental protection, business and land conservation. Furthermore, a full-time staff manages the complex operations of land conservation, stewardship, outreach and fundraising.

Jane Pickens Theater & Event Center (JPT)

The Jane Pickens Theater & Event Center (JPT or "The Pickens") is proud to partner with NewportFILM. The JPT is a world-class art house cinema based in Washington Square in the historic center of Newport, Rhode Island. As the only movie house in downtown Newport, JPT is a film and event space with a sense of style based on history. The theater shows the best movies available, films that are selected to play to the discriminating taste of the target audience.

Located at the end of a dirt road on the Island of Martha's Vineyard off the coast of Massachusetts, mvyradio is the little radio station with a worldwide following. Independent and eclectic, the station seeks to reach music lovers everywhere, with classic artists like Bob Dylan and The Allman Brothers, breakthrough artists like Talking Heads and U2, and modern-day torchbearers like Ray Lamontagne and Death Cab For Cutie. The Newport Architectural Forum is a group of architects, historians and citizens who are committed to honoring the architecture of the past and supporting architectural education in the present and promoting architectural creation in the future.

Newport Art Museum

The Newport Art Museum & Art Association, one of the oldest continuously operating organizations of its kind in the country, turns 100 in 2012. A group of community-minded artists and intellectuals, led by activist and Pulitzer prize-winning author Maud Howe Elliott (1854-1948), founded the organization in June 1912 for the purposes of promoting and exhibiting fine arts and fostering art education within the community. Founding artist members were Elijah Baxter, Charles Biesel, John Elliott, William Sergeant Kendall, Albert Sterner, Helena and Louisa Sturtevant and Leslie P. Thompson.

The polo grounds of historic Glen Farm in Portsmouth - a bucolic village on the outskirts of Newport, Rhode Island - is America's famed seaside resort where polo first took root in America! Glen Farm was once an seven-hundred acre manorial farm reputed for breeding prized livestock in its glory days during the late nineteenth century. Today, it remains a landmark of excellence with the last one hundred acres preserved in the polo fields surrounding the barn complex, and outlined by miles of fieldstone walls.

The Coastal Resources Center at the Graduate School of Oceanography, University of Rhode Island is dedicated to advancing coastal management worldwide. In addition to assisting in the development and implementation of coastal management programs in Rhode Island and the United States, the Center is active in countries throughout the world promoting the sustainable use of coastal resources for the benefit of all. Implementing coastal management projects in the field, building capacity through education and training, and sharing lessons learned and information throughout the coastal community are the foundation of the Coastal Resources Center’s work.
